'Fire Escape'

Dear friends! Well, since my last update I've been on the grind like a mad man; saving as much cash as I can (assuming I can keep myself from buying things like GOLD JORDANS from Billy on Genesee Street).
I'm not working on the farm anymore, Praise Jesus! I picked up a second job waiting tables at Babe's. It can make for very long days when I have a banquet at Danielle's after my lunch shift there, but I'm makin' money for the dream, so I really can't complain!
Recording is going well: we have a few tracks down, a few more to do, and a lot of work ahead of us...but it's getting laid and we're learning a lot about self production, so holler!
As for the theatre; I've just accepted the role of David--leading role in the original play, 'Fire Escape' by Leah Evans!
It's a funny story how I ended up getting cast...
Kari's friend from The New Hartford Players, Michael Mott, is back home after doing the national tour of 'Curious George, The Musical!' Their mutual friend and playwright, Leah Evans, received an offer to have her play read Off Broadway. I'm assuming it could potentially be produced there too; I know it's at least being done somewhere on Long Island.
Anyway, before she goes ahead with that Leah wants to have a staged reading in Utica. So, she enlisted Michael Mott to direct it; and Kari received an invitation to audition.
Now, I had no intention of auditioning because of my work schedule; but, I was reading at Cafe Domenico early Monday morning, and I recognized Mike walk in. I introduced myself to him, asked him how things were going with the production so far; and, it just so happened that auditions were right next door at "The Other Side". He asked if I and any experience, and if was interested in auditioning. I told him I had a little (lol), but that my work schedule probably wouldn't allow for a production right now. Anyway, to make a long story short, he easily convinced me to audition anyway! I was called me back later that day, and the next. Then finally! after all the readings, reworking the schedule, and pleading with my boss to give me enough days off for rehearsals & the performance; I was offered the role!
I know it's going to be a little hard on the NYC wallet not working a few days, but I know it's worth it! It's with good, talented people, it's my passion, and I need something to work on while I wait to hear about Of Mice and Men!
Rehearsals start this Sunday!
Until then...

The Show Must Go On!

The end of one chapter means the beginning of another--and the show must go on! With college behind me now, I'm a fresh Bachelor in the Theatre, Ladies! New York City is coming soon; but, first I need to stack some paper.

I'm back in the Valley for the summer: waiting tables at the Valley View/Daniele's at night, and shovelin' shit on the farm in the mornings. It's going to be a rough, tough, busy summer but I'll gladly pay my dues. I know it will pay off.

I recently auditioned at the Chenango River Theatre for their October production, 'Of Mice and Men'. It went well, only issue being that the show goes up a little after I plan to make my Big Move to to the Big Apple. I'm keeping it under consideration though because it would be nice to get my EMC before I move.

That's that for now. In the mean time, in the off time, keep an ear out for 'Invincible'. My writing partner, Kevin Alexander, recently invested a load into pro tools and some sick equipment; so, the first album is going to be recorded. Holler!

As always,

Nick Stag
